I’ve officially been running Vista on my home system for a week now. The choppy sound problem wasn’t dependent on the software I was using. I tried Windows Media Player 11, the latest versions of Winamp and JetAudio. It ended up being the latest VIA driver for the onboard RAID controller on the the ASUS A8V Deluxe motherboard. I’m not running a RAID configuration, but I do have 2 SATA drives attached. I just went to the properties of the RAID controller and on the Driver tab, clicked Roll Back Driver. It’s now using the stock Vista driver. I can’t remember if I had to restart or not. But it works. No more choppy sound. Almost.
Acid Pro 6 is choppy as a motherfucker on Vista.
“Acid Pro 6 is choppy as a motherfucker on Vista.”At least when you export the song as an audio file it isn’t. The Media Manager part of Acid apparently has problems with Vista (it gives a message about known problems when it gets to that part of the installer). I just canceled the installation of that. Choppiness during playback of a song in Acid is even choppier than all my sound was before the above fix. Reason 3 on the other hand runs beautifully. I’ve yet to experience any problems with Reason on Vista. What I usually do is create my loops in Reason and then use Acid Pro to actually assemble the songs.

In case you were unaware, if you are married you can get away with any crime. Even felonies. Here’s how:
“You can get away with any crime if you are married.”
- Commit a crime.
- Have your wife call the cops after taking a picture of you committing the crime.
- Go to jail.
- Get bailed out.
- Let your lawyer drag out the trial for at least 6 months.
- Have someone testify that your marriage was rocky.
- Get acquitted.
- Rinse and repeat.
I don’t understand how or why, but it works.

I’ve added Google Apps to the site. That means kverke.com e-mail, docs, calendar, web pages, and start page, all powered by google. Go to kverke.com and check out the second row of links. If you want an @kverke.com e-mail address, let me know. If I don’t know you, you don’t get one. That’s all I need is for someone to send out spam and I lose my site. I’ve been burned for being nice in the past.
I’m officially running Vista Ultimate on my main box at home.
“Don’t fuck with Vista x64 unless you need more than 4GB of memory.”If it weren’t for someone getting it for me in the MS store, I wouldn’t have a legitimate copy yet. The only thing that is kind of weird so far is my music is choppy, both in Winamp and in WMP11. Now to get Vista on my laptop so the 3 systems I use everyday all have the same OS. I redid my workstation today. Vista x64 was slow as shit and some stuff wouldn’t play nice. The 32-bit seems about the same in terms of speed, but I no longer have to fuck around with shit to get it to work. The advice I’ve received regarding x64 is basically “if you don’t need more than 4GB of memory, don’t fuck with it.” I was running Windows XP Pro x64 on my main system at home. It’s very stable, but Photoshop CS3 crashes at random every time I use it. I still need to try it on 32-bit Vista.
