Free download of the new Del album

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Download Del’s 7th album, Funk Man, here for free.

From Wikipedia:

“On March 31, 2009 Del’s new album Funk Man was made available for free download on the internet for one day only. The album will be released in stores on April 7th, 2009.”

Better hurry if that’s the case! Grab the Leak Packs while you’re there too.

There are tons of other artists on that site too, most of whom I didn’t recognize.

April 2009 Releases

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

New Blu-ray, CD, DVD, NDS, and PS3 releases for the month of April that seem interesting to me for one or more reasons. If something is too special to come out on a Tuesday like everything else, it’s under the following Tuesday.

PureText

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

I’m always having to paste copied text into Textpad (Notepad works too) and then copy it again so I don’t get all the formatting of the original text (tables, style, etc.) especially when I’m writing Posts for this blog. I was going to download a Firefox Add-on to either 1) force plain-text copy or 2) paste with no formatting. However, I came across this handy little app called PureText that sits in your tray and lets you paste plain-text with a configurable hotkey combination (default is Windows Key + V, which works for me). I’m using it on Windows Vista Ultimate (32-bit; I know, I know, this laptop only has 2GB of memory…) with no problems so far.

More info and download link can be found here.

Akai MPK49 firmware update

Friday, March 13th, 2009

Yesterday Akai released firmware v1.05 for the MPK49. From the release notes:

New Features / Changes:

  1. Added the ability to save PAD THRESHOLD, MIDI CLOCK, TAP AVG with SAVE GLOBALS
  2. Fixed issue where ports would not show correctly on Mac OS 10.5.6
  3. Fixed issue where assignable switches could not send program changes above 32.

Download can be found here.

If you’re using Reason, which is pure bliss with the MPK49 when it’s set up right, make sure you have the latest Reason Remote Files (available on that same page). I had an issue with Pitch Bend where after using the Pitch Bend Wheel on the MPK49 and letting it return to center, Reason would leave it fully ‘up’. I’m using Reason 4.01 and don’t know if the problem applies to earlier versions.
